Topic: Be Ye Separate
Text: II Corinthians 6:14-18,
John 3:3-8
We are living and acting
too much like the world to the point that the world thinks we as Christians are
one of them.
The call to “Be Ye
Separate”
A call to shine as light in all the dark places of this world by becoming a worthy example deserving emulation.
A Call
to be holy, pure and to be truthful.
Please note that the
commandment to be separate is from God. Before God begin to build, he
divided
light from darkness.
Gen.1:1-3. I John 1:5-God is light, and in him is no
darkness at all. I Timothy 6:16-God dwells in light.
When Jesus came to
the world, he introduce himself as light of men and the light to the world
(John1:4, John 8:12).
The Holy Spirit is
also the Spirit of Light. Recall from the words of Jesus in John 16:13-14 and
the purpose of his presence is to bring to an end everything that is of the
nature of darkness in our lives.
The Holy Spirit wants
to work out the meaning of the cross in our lives, so that everything that
belongs to the kingdom of darkness is removed and in the end, with us too,
there is no darkness at
all.
He wants to look
inside of us to remove something that is contrary to his own nature as light
and
things that does not answer to his character of absolute transparency.
Believers are said to
be children of light and light of the world (Ephesians 5:8 &
Matthew 5:14)
It takes serious
responsibilities to live as light. Christianity is not a destination; it is a
continuous
journey in RESPONSIBILITIES.
LIVING AS LIGHT THROUGH THE POWER OF
NEW BIRTH.
Without new birth you
cannot live as light, if you are not born again you are living in darkness.
When a man is
genuinely born again he will be oppressing the kingdom of darkness. II
Corinthians
5:17.
Sons of God are the
ones that will operate as light. John 1:12.
UNIQUENESS OF NEW BIRTH
1.You have a divine
status- John 3:3, 6 & 8.
2.It makes you superior
over the devil. Colossian 1:13
3.
It makes you one with the father. John 10:30
4.
It makes you a heavenly ambassador. II Corinthians 5: 17
and 20
