 Meaning of  “SEPARATE”
–To be set/kept apart for a reason/purpose
–To remove something from a group.
–To me it means to Stand Out .

Therefore, we can say to be separate its to set ourselves apart or Stand out for The Lord’s Purpose.
But Why? 
–God commanded it. Genesis 12, II Corinthians 6:17
–To avoid Eternal Death.
–To let everyone on whose side we belong to.
–To enjoy all God has in store for us.
 Importantly,
I think we should be separate because we LOVE GOD!
To live a separated Life unto God involves changing Our Dressing ,Our Character , Our Friends, What we feed our spirit, Where we go, etc.
But to begin this journey of living a separated you must note the following:
1. Know God ( & keep knowing Him)
–Give your life to Christ. John 14:6
–Believe, Trust and Obey Him.
–Have a solid relationship with Him.
–You would know what pleases Him.
–You would discover His Desire for you.
–You would know His like & Dislikes.
NB: BE CAREFUL so you don’t get to familiar with GOD and take His  Grace & Mercy for granted!!!
Examples: Israel (Leviticus 26:12), 3 Hebrew Children (Daniel 3) 
2. Know your Enemy (John 10:10)
–The Devil is your enemy.
–He is an Enemy of God.
–He has no good thought concerning you
–He lies & deceives the world because he looks for souls to join him in hell to suffer with him.
–He doesn’t want you separated for God.
NB: To live a separated life for God you must know you can’t associate any more with the devil
-Deal with your flesh /Character
-Know who you have become in Christ1Pet. 2:9
-Don’t compare yourself II Cor. 10:12
-You have to make a deliberate effort – becoming a living sacrifice I Corinthians 6:12
-Making it a daily decision to be dead to sin 1 Corinthians 15:31
-Encourage yourself in God because it’s a gradual step therefore we need to always
examine ourselves. I Samuel 30:6
Conclusion
To live a separated life you can’t do it with out the Help of the Holy Spirit no matter how much you try your very best.
But don’t wait till its too late (Rapture/Death) before you begin to live life Separated unto GOD.
II Corinthians 13:5
