Topic: AS THE SPIRIT LEADS

INTRODUCTION

As the Spirit leads is often said by many Christians, but this is not just a mere phrase but the creed of every child of God.

The Spirit we are talking about here is the Holy Spirit. God is interested in every aspect of the lives of His children and He desires that His children live their lives according to His leading.  John 3:5

Today’s message will focus on:

Who is your leader?

 Categories of followers under Spiritual leading.

How can I know the Spiritual leading I yield to?

What will happen to those led by the Holy Spirit?

Requirements of being led by the Spirit 

WHO IS YOUR LEADER?

This question is not a rhetorical question. You need to know whose spiritual leading you are under. No one on earth is neutral because our lives is under the influence of a spiritual leading either forces of light or the forces of darkness.

You need to know the Power/Spirit that is controlling the affairs of your life.

N.B: Your thoughts, decisions and actions are the product of the Spirit that oversees the affairs of your life.

CATEGORIES OF FOLLOWERS UNDER SPIRITUAL LEADING

•       Flesh followers

Flesh followers are those who yield to the leading of the flesh and they are slaves to the works of the flesh and flesh manipulates and hinders them to be spiritually alert and relevant in God’s purpose and plan for their lives. Galatians 5:19-21. Romans 8:7

Flesh followers  are carnal and they cannot understand the things of the spirit. I Corinthians 2:14

The flesh profits nothing, the flesh is temporal but you and I are eternal being because we are spirit being.

DEMONIC SPIRIT FOLLOWERS

Demonic spirit followers are those whose lives are manipulated through demonic influence to do things they cannot explain or account for and they act in accordance with the dictates of the spirit controlling their lives.

They do things that are against the purpose of God for their lives and help the kingdom of darkness to fulfil its agenda.

Their destination is hell  if there is no intervention by Christ Jesus for their Salvation and deliverance. Acts 16:16-18, Mark 5:1-5.

Their thoughts, actions and decisions are manipulated by demonic influence.

HOLY SPIRIT FOLLOWERS

Holy Spirit followers are those who yield to the leading of the Spirit of God, they do things that please God and their destination is HEAVEN because the path they tread on is the path of righteousness and Holiness.

The Holy Spirit can never lead you in the path of sin. The Holy Spirit cannot lead you outside His will for your lives.

Being led by the Holy Spirit is a necessity for anyone who claims to be a Christian. Being led by the Holy Spirit helps to provide a way of escape from the traps of the enemy concerning your lives. Romans 8:14

N.B   There is a spiritual law that says one cannot  serve two masters Mat 6:24. Is either you are under the leading of the Holy Spirit or you  are under the leading of demonic spirit.

HOW CAN I KNOW WHOSE LEADERSHIP I AM UNDER?

•       By the fruits you bear. Galatians 5:19-21

•       The force you submit to. James 4:7

•       The force you resists often? James 4:7

•       Your love for worldliness I John 2:15

•       Who are you loyal and obedient to the most?   John 14:15

•       Whose voice do you listen to the most?

N.B What differentiates you from the children of darkness is the Spirit that controls your life or that leads you. Romans 8:9,14

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THOSE LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT?

1. They don’t have a life of their own but live according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. James 4:7, Matthew 26:24, John 3:8
2.  Their flesh is dead to sin. Romans 8.10

3.    They submit totally to God.   James 4.7

4. They resist the devil. James 4.7

5. They are Heaven bound

6.They will fulfil God’s purpose for their lives.

REQUIREMENTS OF BEING LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

1.            Be born again. John 3:5-16

2.            Desire the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Luke 11.13

3.            Have faith in God Hebrews 11:1-39, Hebrews12:2, Hebrews11:6

4.            Make up your mind to   always obey Him

5.            Be holy. II Corinthians 7.1

CONCLUSION

Our God is a master script writer that has written the script everyone on earth should act. No reward for anyone that acts the wrong script.

You need to go to the script writer to know and accept the role and the script you are to act on earth. Jesus said, the Son of man goeth as it is written of Him, you too must know the script written about you.

It pays to yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit. It makes your journey on earth meaningful. You need to discover God’s purpose for your life and yield to it.
